Users of this report are aware that this survey is the only reliable source of textile and clothing manufactured in India. This annual report "Market for textiles and clothing: National Household Survey - 2004" is the 34th report in the series providing the basic data on the domestic demand for textiles and clothing for our country curing the year 2004. Similar to the earlier year, we have made efforts to ensure nor only the authenticity of date , but also its presentation in a user-friendly format. The findings regarding annual for textiles and clothing in the household segment are derived from the monthly textile purchases data for the 12 months of the calendar year of 2004. The above data have been collected from a sample of 13060 households spread in 112 urban and 246 rural sample cities/towns/villages in the country on bi-monthly basis. The sample-design for the household textiles purchases survey is developed on scientific lines incorporating established statistical norms so that it fully represents the socio-economic structure of the country.
