A census of ginning and pressing units was conducted by Textiles Committee during 2002 in association with Ahmedabad Textiles Research Association) ATIRA and Central Institute of Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT). The report listed 4015 cotton ginning and pressing factories in the country (spread across 12 states and 315 centres). The report mapped the technology, product composition, manpower, financial and infrastructural profiles of these factories. A detailed analytical report incorporating the above details has been brought out for the use of industry, trade, spinners, cotton traders, machinery manufacturers, exporters and other stakeholders. The project was sponsored by Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC). The report consists of 222 pages with text and tables.
